ASU Newport Center for Health Sciences
The new Arkansas State University at Newport’s Center for Health Sciences will unite the current and future health sciences curriculum into one synergistic facility. The classrooms and simulation labs have been arranged to promote a collaborative learning environment within the multiple disciplines of the nursing program. The simulation labs provide realistic scenarios with simulation patients that can emulate programed illnesses to train student nurses in a realistic clinical environment. The significance of nursing schools within rural communities also provides the opportunity for continuing education for the reginal nursing and EMT community as well as outreach training for local high schools. The floor plan is organized such that a portion of the nursing school can be isolated for after hours learning with its own entry for this community outreach.
